"Go Play!" - It's National "Summer Leisure" Day!

In stark contrast to other orders they may receive from you at times, kids most likely jump at the opportunity when they are told to "Go Play!"

Surprisingly though, we should be telling ourselves to do the same thing!

Somewhere along the road between childhood and adulthood, we restrain our imaginations, stifle our abilities to play in joyful abandon and turn in our "fun" caps for "responsibility" caps. The truth is that playing can be a great source for stress management, helping with adaptability, fostering relationships while also helping to manage negative emotions and experiences. Playing nourishes the small creative parts of us that may lay forgotten in the hustle and bustle of everyday life!

It's true, "playing" can be equally beneficial for you as it is for your kids. There is scientific evidence that this basic biological drive may be as vital to our health as food and sleep!

So there it is, do you need anymore reasons to get out there and play? Get out there and relive your childhood, and of course, don't forget to bring your Adora Dolls!

4th of July weekend...the Adora Way!

We don't know about you, but we look forward to this weekend all year long at Adora! It's a weekend of our 3 favorite F's! Friends, Family and of course...lot's and lot's of food!

In a day and age where families are collectively on the go with packed schedules, the long weekend allows us to slow down and "smell the roses" -  or in many cases "smell the BBQ"!

It's an opportunity to take shelter in life's little treasures, like sharing laughs over a cookout, sitting on the porch and watching the fireworks and listening to the giggles of kids playing in the yard.

We had our own little celebration at our first Annual 4th of July BBQ at our office in Orange County, California! Lot's of sunshine, yummy food, treats and a game of darts for great prizes!

Let's Go Fly a Kite!

This Saturday, June 15th is National Fly a Kite day...in honor of the anniversary of Benjamin Franklin's kite experiment in 1752. Take your family to the park this weekend, have a picnic and fly a kite...spend the day outside, enjoy your family time together and the start of summer!

Here are some fun craft ideas to make your own kite:

• Cut a diamond kite shape out of paper. Drop a few drops of food coloring or watered down paint onto the kite shape. Now, blow the paint into 'splatter' shapes using a straw, just like the wind blows a kite.
• Start out with a diamond shape and fold it in half lengthwise. Unfold the kite shape and paint some designs on half of it. When you are done painting, fold the kite in half again so you get a mirror image of the design you painted onto the unpainted side. 

And don't forget to take along your Adora doll...and play dolls!!

Tomorrow is 'Lucky Penny' Day!

Have you ever found a penny and kept it for good luck? Well you wouldn't be the first person to do that...we have all done that once or twice in our lives. But did you know there is a whole day dedicated to finding that 'Lucky Penny'!? Tomorrow, May 23rd is National 'Lucky Penny' day. 

Here are some fun ways to celebrate 'Lucky Penny' day:

• Get together with your friends and hunt down pennies
• Look for pennies all around a car parking lot or in parks. 
• Spend some hours hunting down the pennies and then taking a count of it at the end of the day
• You can also take your collection of lucky pennies and give someone a gift

It's National Choclate Chip Cookie Day!

Who doesn't love anything Chocolate!? 

We certainly do! Well we are all in luck...today is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!

passed the month of March is still here and so is the joy that a smile can bring! 

Here are some ideas to get your Smiling! Once you start; others will smile with you...

• Make a collage using pictures of smiles cut out of magazines.
• Make smiley face masks using yellow paint and paper plates.
• Name one thing that makes you smile.
• Have a smile-off. See who can smile the longest. To make it harder, see who can smile the longest without laughing!
• Talk about sharing.
• Talk about how you feel when someone smiles at you and when you smile.
